Civil Society Video Essay Contest

The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) is pleased to launch a Civil Society Video Essay Contest. Civil society organizations, businesses, groups, and individuals located in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, or Yemen are invited to create short video essays on YouTube responding to one of the questions listed below. The purpose of the contest is to raise public awareness about the contributions of civil society organizations to their communities and to increase public support for the creation of an enabling environment for civil society.
 
The deadline for submissions is August 15, 2011. A prize of $1,000 USD will be awarded to the first place video, $500 USD for second place, and $250 USD for third place. The winners of the contest will be announced by September 30, 2011 and the winning video essays will be posted on the website of the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law.
 
Each Participant must record a video answering one of the following questions:
  • What does civil society mean to you?
  • What is the greatest contribution that an NGO has made to your neighborhood?
  • How does the NGO law in your country affect your NGO’s ability to achieve its goals?
  • What has been your experience working on an NGO campaign?
  • Why is it important to have a good civil society law?
