Denmark signs a USD 4.6 million with NDC to support Human Rights and Good Governance Secretariat
The Danish Government joined on Monday Dec. 6, the Human Rights and Good Governance Secretariat that the NGO Development Center (NDC) is managing, by signing a funding agreement with the NDC for USD 4.6 million. By signing this agreement, the total funding for the second phase of the Secretariat which continues until June 2013, reaches USD 16.2 million. Denmark is a founding member in the first phase of the Secretariat which was established in 2008, and joined today beside Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden.

NDC signs ‘Special Grant Facility’ agreements with nine human rights NGOs
On Monday 21st of May, nine grant agreements were signed with NGOs working in the West Bank and Gaza Strip at the NGO Development Center’s (NDC’s) main office in Al Ram. Ghassan Kasabreh (NDC Director), Jamileh Sahlieh (Grants Program Manager), Shadi Qare’ (Finance and Admin Manager) and Sjoerd Wiemer Sjoerdsma (Netherlands Representative Office Policy Officer) joined representatives of the successful applicant NGOs to sign the grant agreements.

In 2011, 50.9% of households owned a computer in the Palestinian Territory: 53.2% in the West Bank and 46.5% in Gaza Strip. In 2004, around one quarter (26.4%) of households had a computer. Percentage of Households having Computer by Region, Selected Years In 2011, 53.7% of individuals (10 years and over) in the Palestinian Territory have access to computer: 54.8% in the West Bank and 51.7% in Gaza Strip: and 58.5% of males and 48.7% of females. Whereas in 2004, 35.7% of individuals have access to computer.

Hurryyat Calls upon WHO and Amnesty International for an Urgent Intervention to Save the lives of Ailing Prisoners
The Center for Defense of Liberties and Civil Rights-‘Hurryyat’ issued a statement calling for the World Health Organization, Amnesty International, the International Committee of Red Cross and all international human rights organizations to intervene immediately to save the lives of the ailing prisoners in Israeli prisons.

The start of year 2012 witnessed a quantum leap regarding program, managerial, financial, and strategic development to Afkar For Educational & Cultural Development. Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and World Bank joint mission completes mid-term Review of Palestinian NGO IV Project
Mission visits 11 projects and holds a series of meetings with NDC and Palestinian Authority ministries. From the 17th to the 29th of March a joint AFD and World Bank delegation carried out a detailed mid-term review of the Palestinian NGO IV Project managed by NDC (funded by AFD/World Bank).
