The Swedish Organization for Individual Relief
The Swedish Organization for Individual Relief is inviting Palestinian NGOs working in the West Bank to submit concept papers for innovative and creative pilot projects aiming at empowering, mobilizing and giving voice to persons with intellectual disabilities to claim “their own rights in line with the “UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
The pilot project can be a base line, a study, or implementation of a small project. Based on results a long-term project might be developed starting 2013
NGO eligibility criteria:
- The NGO is ultimately represented by persons with disabilities, or has the legitimacy to represent persons with disabilities.
- The NGO applies democratic principles with participation, transparency, non-discrimination and accountability as key guiding principles.
- The NGO is aiming for increased coordination and cooperation with other civil society organizations (NGO’s) in order to jointly become a strong force fighting for and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities.
- The NGO is operating in the West Bank.
Project eligibility criteria:
- Well justified concepts that are clearly geared towards strengthening the capability of persons with disabilities and foremost persons with intellectual disabilities to empower themselves, to claim their human rights and full participation in the Palestinian society.
- Project aiming at raising awareness and promoting respect in the community in general for the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, combating stereotypes, prejudices and harmful practices relating to persons with disabilities.
- The implementation period is six months: July – December 2012.
- The financial support is maximum 100 000 NIS per pilot project.
If you are a Palestinian NGO, which has an official registration, and are sharing the ambitions, objectives and strategies as mentioned above and meet, or are striving to meet, the defined criteria you are welcome to send us your concept paper.
Applicants should submit their concept paper not later than 15 of April 2012.
