Hebron & Gaza, 13/10/2022 – The Roles for Social Change Association – Adwar started implementing the first stage of its project “Women’s economic activities in priority communities: a painful reality and absence of official recognition”, last week in Hebron and Gaza, aiming to promote the participation of Women’s Protection Committees in civil life and social integration, to demand access to services for vulnerable women.
During the past ten days, about 80 women from Bedouin communities in Hebron (Masafer Bani N’aem & Masafer Yata), and in the Gaza Strip (Al-Maghraqa & Johr Al-Deek) participated in training sessions on economic empowerment, economic laws and policies, and accountability for three days in each area. Through this program, Adwar Association is contributing in developing women’s knowledge and capacities to enable them to establish Women’s Protection Committees in the targeted areas and advocate for their rights.
This project forms part of the local advocacy initiatives of the “Gender Equality in the Economic Sphere: Our Right, Our Priority” project, implemented by the Democracy and Workers’ Rights Center in Palestine (DWRC), the Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development (PWWSD), COSPE and EducAid, and funded by the European Union.
