Invitation to Human Rights and Good Governance (HR/GG) NGOs operating in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) to submit “Special Grants Facility” Applications for Funding
The NGO Development Center (NDC), currently managing the Human Rights and Good Governance (HR/GG) Secretariat, is announcing the availability of funding to support projects of Palestinian and Israeli HR/GG NGOs and networks operating in the oPt. Funding of USD $750,000 has been made available by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Netherlands Representative Office to the Palestinian Authority, as a continuation of their support to the human rights and good governance sector.
Applicants qualify for the “Special Grants Facility” provided that they meet the following eligibility criteria:
NGO eligibility criteria:

Palestinian or Israeli HR/GG NGOs or Networks that have official registration.

NGOs that have the capacity and the staffing to implement the planned activities.

NGOs abiding to non-violence and non-discrimination methodologies in their work policies.

NGOs demonstrating the following:
-
Good governance and transparency;
-
NGOs that have transparent financial system;
-
Clear orientation towards achieving tangible results and impact.
Project eligibility criteria:
-
Well-justified projects that are clearly geared towards work on the promotion, protection, education, monitoring and advocacy of the principles of International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law within the occupied Palestinian territory; and/or well-justified projects that work on policy, educational, and advocacy activities to influence policies and legislation, and ensure the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Projects with clear description of approach, methodology, actions and tools that will be implemented in order to achieve measurable results.

The grant amount is a maximum of USD 150,000.

The implementation timeframe is a maximum of 8 months, ending before December 31, 2012.
Preference will be given to proposals which are aimed at attaining measurable results in the following priority areas:

Displacement and forced evictions;
-
Women’s equal participation in political life;
-
Right to health with emphasis on access issues;
-
Prisoners’ rights, torture and rehabilitation;
-
Freedom of religion;
NGOs currently receiving core or project funding from the HR/GG Secretariat are not eligible to apply for this cycle of Special Grant Facility.

The deadline for submission of the “Application for Special Grants Facility” is at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 22, 2012.
