  • Mobilize CSOs to effectively engage in policy dialogue
  • Enhancing CSOs skills and perceptions to influence policy processes
  • Support CSOs to transforming policy priorities into actions
  • Support CSOs to share good practice and lessons learned
  • Introduce practical solutions to policy implementation and monitoring
  • Promote regional networking, building coalitions/networks around policy.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION:

The workshop:

  • Will take place between 15 March - 18 March 2016, in Amman, Jordan
  • Is open to about 25 CSO participants
  • Is for members of CSOs, working in the ENPI countries: Lebanon, Syria, the occupied Palestinian territories, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco
  • The workshop will be delivered in Arabic, and summarized materials in French and English will be made available on the CSFS website.
  • The costs related to the participation to the workshop (travel, accommodation and catering during the training for participants) will be covered for each selected participant.
  • Participants will receive certificates issued by the CSF South on their last day of attendance.

BACKGROUND:

This workshop is organized by the Civil Society Facility South (CSFS). It is a, EU funded facility, supporting civil society organisations in the Southern Mediterranean countries boosting their capacities to enable them to play an effective role in policy dialogue in their country and contribute to the regional discourse.
The CSF South Programme addresses dialogue to build bridges in the region through civic education, commitment of CSOs in political dialogue, young leadership and innovation. Through tailored capacity building, it focuses on supporting CSOs' role in the decision-making process, through policy dialogue, stronger citizenship and advocacy. The regional workshop capitalizes on previous experience, recommendations and best practices and interactions with partner CSOs who participated to similar workshops in 2015. ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA:
 
- Be a member of a Civil Society Organization (see definition below), from the Neighborhood South Region
 The EU considers CSOs to include all non-State, not-for-profit structures, non-partisan and non –violent, through which people organize to pursue shared objectives and ideals, whether political, cultural, social or economic. Operating from the local to the national, regional and international levels, they comprise urban and rural, formal and informal organizations. They include membership-based, cause-based and service-oriented CSOs. Among them, community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations, foundations, research institutions, Gender and LGBT organizations, cooperatives, professional and business associations, and the not-for-profit media. Trade unions and employers' organizations, the so-called social partners, constitute a specific category of CSOs.
 
CSOs Eligible under this call: will come from the 10 eligible countries: Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, the occupied Palestinian territories, Israel, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. 
 
Be aware that only one proposal per CSO can be made based on the profile requirements:

  • 1 applicant per organization (CSO);
  • Ideally proposed applicant have been exposed before to sectorial policy work, and advocacy

 

  1. Selection criteria for CSOs: 
  2. Civil Society Organization working on nationally or regionally policy issues in the Southern Mediterranean region
  3. Willing to work within national and regional networks/partnerships on policy change and development 
  4. Selection Criteria for individual applicants: 
  5. Applicant should be in a middle management position within the CSO having management responsibilities
  6. Applicant should be able to pursue complementary and on-the-job trainings following the present one
  7. Applicant should be able to process and apply the knowledge acquired to practical situations within her/his work field and organization and CSF South future activities, i.e. potential for organizational spill-off or development
  8. Ability to work in a team or a group or a coalition
  9. Ability to transfer learning and skills acquired to colleagues/partners
  10. Ability to contribute ideas and demonstrate initiative and flexibility
  11. Basic communication, writing and language skills, the workshop language is Arabic

  • Curriculum vita of the applicant;
  • If possible: a short version of the motivations in English or French (half a page), not compulsory
