Rapid Needs Assessment of the NGO Sector to Respond to Repercussions of Israel’s Offensive on the Gaza Strip

Eighty percent of the budget of Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations is funded by external donors, mainly the EU and the USA. NGOs complain about conditions set by the donors in terms of using this money. Fewer criticize its negative impact on Palestinian society. Only very few suggest alternatives, without being able to translate them into action on the ground. This study doesn’t look at the outcomes of individual NGO projects, but focuses on the higher level of the NGOs’ work or, more precisely, the impact of foreign funding implemented through local NGOs in Palestine.

Israel’s water policies violates basic human rights of Palestinian residents in the Occupied Territories, including the right to health, the right to adequate housing, the right to equality, and the right to benefit from their natural resources. This report details this situation as it relates to one of the worst affected areas: the Jordan Valley. Water scarcity, abysmal sanitation facilities and polluted water resources present a constant challenge to the survival of this already vulnerable community.

Until the year 1948, the Palestinians who were to become citizens in the State of Israel following its establishment were an integral part of the fabric of Palestinian society, and of resistance to the colonialist project of the Zionist movement, which strove to create an exclusive Jewish state in Palestine.

This study comes within the framework of the NGO Development Center’s (NDC) efforts to develop the NGO sector to become more responsive, transparent and accountable to Palestinian communities. This is to be accomplished by setting standards and promoting collaboration within the NGO sector. It will be supported by strategic policy research, planning, and a strategic plan.

An Analysis of Human Rights Violations Against Palestinian Children in 2003. This research paper aims at exploring the vision and views of the Palestinian youth and youth organizations about the most important problems and concerns of the Palestinian youth, their needs, and the obstacles that stand in their way of achieving their dreams. In addition, the research seeks to identify the most important concepts that the Palestinian youth think of analyzing the issues, concerns, activities, and work of their local youth organizations and their relationships with international organizations.

This study critically reviews two draft laws prepared by the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), namely the Electronic Transactions (ECommerce) Law and the Electronic Authentications (E-Signatures) Law. It also provides recommendations to improve the draft laws and create a favorable legal environment to facilitate e-commerce in Palestine. The paper first defines the various aspects of electronic commerce, highlighting its importance and advantages.

The study introduces the different types of public debt, setting them in an international context and reviewing the causes of problems associated with them. It then reviews the growth of the Palestinian public debt during the years of Intifada, examining its causes, nature, and implications for the future. It examines the possible risks (such as market risk, liquidity risk, settlement risk, and operational risk) and presents the indicators of external vulnerability.

This study shows the need for reassessing the organisational structure and scope of all organisations representing the private sector. This representation is necessary to build an appropriate and competitive business environment, through activities like lobbying the Palestinian Authority, organising marketing and external promotion, and providing information about members’ services.
