Events in September highlighted factors contributing to vulnerability of lives and livelihoods of Palestinians in the oPt. One Palestinian was killed and 68 others injured in settler violence and nearly 2,500 trees were vandalized. Livelihoods of hundreds of Palestinian families were undermined when Israeli authorities demolished six water wells in the northern WB. UNRWA faces severe funding deficit in Gaza, more than two-thirds of Gaza’s population affected. Three Palestinian EJ kindergartens face Israeli military raids, closure, or demolitions.

Voices from East Jerusalem, The Situation facing Palestinian Children

This report addresses the impact of Israel’s unilateral annexation of East Jerusalem, through administrative and legal measures aimed at limiting the population growth and development of the Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem, while actively encouraging the influx of Israeli settlers into the occupied territory.

This week, Israeli forces injured 22 Palestinians throughout the oPt. Settlers injured another three Palestinians and vandalized around 250 trees. Israeli authorities demolished 26 Palestinian-owned structures, mainly including residential tents and water cisterns. In Gaza, a Palestinian worker killed in a tunnel. Update on movement through Rafah Crossing.

This week, Israeli forces injure 20 Palestinians in the West Bank. Settlers injure another 11 Palestinians, steal or damage olive crops and vandalize around 250 trees. Israeli authorities demolish 13 Palestinian-owned structures in Area C of the West Bank. In Gaza, while violence remains low, a Palestinian killed while handling an explosive device and another in a tunnel-related incident. Update on movement through Rafah Crossing. A highlight on the agreement reached to release Israeli soldier in exchange for the release of over 1,000 prisoners.

Two Palestinians, of whom one was a child, and two settlers, including a child, were killed as a result of settler-related violence in the West Bank. Israeli forces injure over 60 Palestinians. Settlers damage over 900 Palestinian-owned trees. Demolitions continue. In Gaza, five Palestinians killed and seven others injured in tunnel-related incidents. Calm continues. Increased movement through Rafah.

This week, Israeli forces injure 18 Palestinians in the West Bank. Israeli settlers escalate their attacks, injuring another four Palestinians and vandalizing around 1,000 trees. Demolition of Palestinian-owned structures resumed, with five structures demolished and 23 people displaced. In Gaza, three workers killed and four others injured inside tunnels under the Gaza-Egypt border. There continues to be an increase in the number of people crossing Rafah. Electricity blackouts continue.

Demolition of Palestinian-owned structures resumed, with residences and water wells demolished and 26 people displaced. In Gaza, violence declined. There was an increase in the number of people crossing Rafah.

Sustaining Achievements in Palestinian Institution-Building and Economic Growth

The September 2011 meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee coincides with the completion the Palestinian Authority’s ambitious two-year program “Palestine: Ending the Occupation, Establishing the State”, presented on August 25, 2009. There has been substantial progress in implementing the program’s goals and policies, centering on the objective of building strong state institutions. However, the onset of an acute fiscal crisis, accompanied by declining economic growth, may undermine the promise of these institution-building achievements.

Israeli settlers vandalized more than 120 trees throughout the West Bank and set fire to a mosque in ‘price tag’ incidents. In addition, more than half of Palestinians injured by the Israeli military were in incidents involving Israeli settlers. The majority of Palestinians continued to be denied access to East Jerusalem for prayers on the last Friday of Ramadan. Violence continued in the Gaza Strip and southern Israel, with 13 Palestinians killed.

Report of the Secretary-General’s Panel of Inquiry on the 31 May 2010 Flotilla Incident

The Secretary-General established the Panel of Inquiry on the 31 May 2010 Flotilla Incident on 2 August 2010. The Panel received and reviewed reports of the detailed national investigations conducted by both Turkey and Israel. Turkey established a National Commission of Inquiry to examine the facts of the incident and its legal consequences, which provided an interim and final report to the Panel along with annexes and related material.
